The left fork seal is leaking, the fork is oily all the way down so
there has been significant oil loss. How do I replace the oil 'till
that time that I can bring it to the dealer for fork maintance? If
there is significant oil loss, is it dangerous to ride? Obviously I
am not a mechanic, also do not push the limits of the bike. thanks
for any help, dan

Don't ride it. Oil will saturate your brake pads and render your
brakes useless.

No, it's not. Disk brakes typically don't work when covered with oil.
Try it sometime!

Actually, it can be very true, if the oil is leaking down onto the
pads. I had my bike's fork seals start leaking last spring and that's
exactly where the fluid ended up. Once it gets on the rotors, it's on
the pads eventually.
Once I replaced the seals (described at
http://xidos.ca/Bikes/ForkRepair/forks.htm ), I used brake cleaner to
clean the pads, to save replacing them.
