Well the stultifying, oppressive, mind-numbing heat here in the east
has finally, albeit temporarily, broken.  Tomorrow morning I'm headed
up to Wonderful West (by God!) Virginia, to Blackwater Falls State
Park.  May hit Seneca Rocks and Lost River State Park on the way home.

I'll spend the night in Davis, and ride back home Sunday.  The route
I've planned is all two-lanes, about 450 miles round trip.

Can't wait to get out of town.  It's been a long, hot, productive, but
virtually bikeless summer.

Oh yeah; riding the Street Glide.  This is not going to be a high
speed blast, but a laid-back sightseeing cruise.

There's about 7 or 8 of us heading up to Windy Ridge on Mt. St. Helens
tomorrow.
Should be a fun ride!

I just got back from a three day ride through the Rockies.  I had a
near miss with a grizzly and a moose.  We rode through sunshine, rain
and even a little hail. We touched a couple of high mountain roads and
slept in a scenic mountain valley. We ate well! No we ate very well!
<g>

We took a ride on a train through the back woods and into an old
lead/zinc/silver mine. We took a walking tour through some of the
tunnels and checked out the mining tools of the day.

And we laughed, damn how we laughed.

I hope you had as much fun on your ride as we did on ours.

Thanks, I did.  430 miles; some great back roads, some beautiful West
Virginia scenery, a great dinner at the Blackwater Brewing Company &
Pub (and a nice sampler of their beers last night) and a ride home
under cloudy skies that didn't start spitting rain until I turned into
my neighborhood.

Even saw a West Virginia establishment "LL's Honeymooner Gun Shop."
Nice!
