I rented a Harley whie I was on vacation a couple of years ago, and
while I hate the whole look-at-me style, and the boat-like handling
and the air-cooled leg cooking, I absolutely *love* the rpm levels.
Can anyone recommend a standard that does the slow-cruise thing rather
than the high-whine thing? Or maybe a 7th and 8th gear conversion for
my Concours? :]
How are the Buells in this light? Are they revamped to be high-
revving? I've got my eye on the Ulysses....
thanks

??
You complain about air cooled, ask about standards, then figure Buell is the
answer??
I am confused!
The Buell is air cooled, it is not exactly a "standard", but close, plus the
vibration is unacceptable to many people. How about a Suzuki SV650, or a
Honda Shadow, or one of the Yamaha, "Star" versions Kawasaki builds a few
V-twins too that may match your liking.

Beemer, Guzzi, SV650. Maybe a VTX?

Nice comparo here. The Ulysses held it's own pretty well.
Some of their markdowns such as a skimpy fairing seemed
pretty forgivable in my book, though I haven't ridden the bike.

My Concours has a 7th gear, but it's strange. When you shift from 6th to
7th, the RPM doesn't drop, but when you shift from 7th to 6th it does.
