Mine was "Northwest Passage Scenic Byway" which is US-12
from Lolo, MT to Lewiston, ID. The most scenic and enjoyable
part of that ride is westbound from Lolo, MT to Kooskia, ID.

Definately stop at Lochsa Lodge near Powell, ID and Cougar
Canyon Station in Lowell, ID. We usually grabbed lunch at the
Rivers Cafe in Kooskia, ID.

I did that road once. It's nice, but I found it a tad boring. There's
a river next to you, and green trees everywhere. And that's it. Green
trees and a river. And mile after mile of turns. Not twisties, but
sweepers, and every single one has the same radius. There's no
variety. You could almost ride the road blindfolded.

Exploring new roads and sights is always at the top of my list. One
nice surprise was SR-5 from Plummer to St.Maries especially along
CdA Lake. OTOH, Old Spiral Hwy out of Lewiston was just okay
although it was cold and windy that day.

It's not all that easy getting up there even from Boise. It's 380 miles of
secondary roads btw Boise and Missoula whether via New Meadows
or Stanley. In retrospect, it's far better to take 2-days getting up there,
and 2-days back as opposed to doing it as an overnighter. More time
for side roads, too.

Have only done Hwy 93 twice, and both times while heading south from
Missoula to Challis. The Lolo to Darby stretch is more of a drone. Got
to say that Hwy 75 from Challis to Stanley rocks!

Gracias, muy amigo.
