Since the temps just dropped to the mid minus teens and we got our
first snowfall of the year, this is a timely topic.
I'd rank Moab as number one for the second time, and I got to ride
with the drunk cowboy. Just don't ask me what he was doing to that
dog. <g>
Second on my list was the Casual Cruise through the Slocan Valley in
BC.
Third was every other mile the Great White Whale and I logged last
season.

Took the little 650 Thumper from L.A. to OKC and back -- 1070+ miles
the first two days, 2700 miles in 9 days, no problem. Handled the
superslab going out and US-60/CA-62 coming back. Average > 60 mpg.
Impressive little bike.

Assuming "OKC" is Oklahoma City, you crossed into the Texas panhandle
on US 60 at Higgins and then to Amarillo (by morning), and then Clovis
NM (where they found zillion year old spear points) and then through
Phoenix (watching out for Joe Arpaio, so as to avoid having to wear
pink undies) and then you picked up CA 62 at Parker, from whence you
saw the Roadrunner and Coyote whilst crossing the Mojave to Joshua Tree
and Desert Hot Springs and then through Riverside into LA, all on one
lone, hard working cylinder. I'm impressed.

So was I. Both on it managing the many hours at 65-70 on the outbound
and the total lack of problems during the trip.

The couple day ride I took with my sister this past summer. The ride
brought us closer together, which came in handy when my mom died last
week. She stayed with Mom in the hospital for 10 days while I ran errands
and made arrangements for long term care. We picked up her ashes together
this past Wednesday.
I was hoping I'd get my new ride up there to give Mom a ride before winter
set in, but couldn't make it up.
Too late,
Robert
