Do any of you have this type of welder in your shop/garage ? What all do you
weld with it ? Also what type of gas do you use, 75/25 ?
Thanks,

I have a Lincoln Weld-Pak 100. I have the gas option but mostly still
use the wire with internal core shielding.

Most of the stuff I weld is not really structurally critical like frames
other then a shock mount. Seat brackets, mufflers & their mounting
brackets, foot pegs, that kind of stuff.

I also use it for extracting broken bolts. Just put a washer on then
slide a nut on and weld it in place.

I did have a cheap mig welder before the Lincoln. Thing caught on fire
and burned up. I was welding 3/8" angle iron into tracks for my sawmill.
You kind of have to watch the duty cycle on the cheaper machines.

I will use gas for patching an aluminum swing arm soon.

If I had a more money at the time I would have spent it on a tig.

I have a Lincol WeldPak100. I've used it to weld carbon steel, with 75/25,
and aluminum and stainless steel using 100% Argon. Aluminum is a bitch to
get used to, and the lead must be kept as straight as possible. Stainless
was very easy, ran about the same as carbon.

I repaired a primary cover for my Triumph with it, as well as frame repairs,
built a sidecar, oil tank, you name it. As someone else said, you'll have to
watch the duty cycle, especially welding heavy materials.

You need to be sure you have a 20 amp circuit to run it on, no extension
cords, and make sure you have clean materials. Grind the areas to be welded,
don't just trust a wire brush. Make sure that you have a good ground too, or
you'll have problems.

If you start welding anything structural on a bike, make damn sure you can
trust your life to your welding... You will every time you ride.

I have a Lincoln Mig Pack 15. It is a 110 mig welder and I usually
only run it with 35 thou flux core wire and it works fine for body
work, and light stuff up to 1/4 inch. When I do change over to gas I
use a gas called auto weld which is a combo gas and it works good as a
all around gas, and cheaper than Argon.
