Well, I think I'm done and the bike is ready to sell. Thanks to this group
for getting me this far.
Jerky ride question: In first gear, 4-5 mph, if I shut off the throttle (
to coast to a stop) the engine braking jerks my body forward. If I apply a
little gas (gentle) in order to speed up, the bike shoots (jerks) forward
and then accelerates smoothly afterward. 20,000 total miles on bike.
My only other riding experience is my 1964 BMW R69S. It doesn't jerk simply
because (I think) it just doesn't have the pep or the lighter weight.
Is what I describe above typical behavior for the Honda? Am I doing
something wrong?
ALSO, occasionally (half the time?) when I shut down the bike I hear what I
think is timing chain slap. Need this be corrected? Would it improve
performance? Does this typically take a whole chain/sprocket set (like a
car) or simply a new tensioner?
Thanks for all replies.
