I have an oil problem with the sporty. The oil tank has a slow leak that I
believe is draining to the dry sump. Looking at the manual, I see a check
ball valve behind the adaptor stem on the oil filter. It appears to be the
only check valve. The bike is my son's ride and he plans to deal with it
once home from ship board duty. I am doing his homework for him without his
knowledge. thanks for any help, McWideglide

The oil is going by the check valve back into the crank case, start
her up and let it run and it is usally back to normal in a few
minutes, the oil will return back to the tank...Had the simalar thing
happen on my 97 sporty for a few years.... didn,t do any damage as I
noticed ,bike still runs great for new owner...still does same thing
when sitting over a extened peroid of time.
