My brother's Honda Nighthawk S died while he was riding it. He was
moving when it died. What could cause this? The oil had been overfilled
by about a half quart for a few hundred miles - would that cause this
problem?
Thanks in advance.

Check the air filter, it might be clogged with oil.

He's got bigger problems. The Nighthawk S was only built from 84-86.

It's probably an 84 then, it looks very little like the regular Nighthawks.
