So much for your so-called 'German Quality' Motorcycle.

Manufacturing and parts from Taiwan are very high quality,
as good as the Japs in my opinion..
It's the stuff from Mainland China that's inconsistent and usually
junk.

I've owned a Volkswagon Rabbit, Scirocco, Audi 100LS, two BMW 320s,
Porshe 924.
While none of the cars were perfect, the more foreign participation in
the manufacture the more quality slipped. I really mean replacement
parts from places like Mexico were abysmal.
Simple stuff seems to be the problem. It isn't that it isn't the same
tooling and specifications, it is the transfer of technolgy doesn't
always go smooth. Things like parameters for injection molding get
changed to optimize production over quality and you end up with
marginal parts.
How can Q.C. be done if they don't have pristine examples of what the
part can be? Simple stuff like telling an engineer to go down to the
line because the parts aren't up to snuff now takes a week before it is
noticed and a 12,000 mile trip to trouble shoot the problem.
It may come down to whether or not BMW went with low bidder or highest
quality manufacturer in awarding the contract.

Modern manufacturing involves Zero Defects, where no final inspection is
ever necessary.
