I have seen several mid-60's CA77 305 Dreams with a chrome trim around
the front part of the fender-similar to a Harley Softail fron fende.
Was this an optional, after-market piece or was it offered on some
original CA77s? I'm trying to restore my '68 CA77 and I want to be
correct. Thanks.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mmeiser/page2/ shows the fender trim on a
black '65.
"It's in pristine condition and has a number of VERY interesting add-ons
that look like they're for touring. In fact the only thing it's missing is
I hear they came with an optional windshield."
Click on the red '68 and you'll find this:
"Also of note, I'm not sure but there may be a chrome or some other trim on
the front fender. I've seen these with some extra chrome trim on the front
fender and rear... which is a VERY nice detail as these two points are very
likely to get scratched or nicked. Indeed honda did make some after market
trim pieces. I distinctly remember seeing pictures of some front finder
trim with a hood ornament type honda wing. Very cool, but a little to
ornate in my opinion for this modern streamlined design. Anyway, the trim
not only protects, but provides form and detail... sort of like the capital
on a roman column."

Here is the photo that depicts the front trim I'm referring to: http://
www.flickr.com/photos/mmeiser/139611993/ (Guess I didn't hyperlink
correctly)!

Maybe Honda did make it but, if you add *just* the front fender trim, your
restoration might not be correct without other trim pieces. I like it though.
