Hey All,
It's been awhile for me but the one thing I do remember is: 'a round
for the house!'
I am trying to help a friend by changing her grips for her.  She has
a
new Honda Shadow Aero 750.  I have changed tons of grips on mine and
my wife's Harleys but this Honda is kicking my ass.  Can someone tell
me how to get slack in the trottle cables?  There is only one
adjuster
nut on the grip side and that is not helping.  Do I need to get to
the
carburator to loosen these cables?  If so, is the carburator under
the
gas tank?  I didn't think there would be this much difference between
the bikes.  Don't know which I like better though..  Thanks in
advance.  Derch

What a bunch of crap to go through to get the #10 plastic throttle barrel off
to change the grips!
Maybe you should just carefully slice the old grips with a razor blade.

That's what most people would do.

You weren't thinking of putting the old grips into your garage museum or
selling them on ebay, were you?

Follow the cable, item #1 to the bottom end. You will have to loosen the jam
nuts on the end to
get the lower end of the cable out of the bracket on the carburetor. That
should give you enough slack without pulling the end of the cable out of the
keyhole on the throttle drum.

I would hope you could get at the carb by taking the air cleaner system off.

The gas tank is held on by one bolt, but you have to at least disconnect the
speedo.

Thanks!!!  I was thinking of just cutting the grip off but wasn't
sure.  If was my bike I would have but its not.  I don't need the
grips for my museum, it's way full already!!!  Thanks again..
