I have a Keihin CR Special with 4 carbs for my CB-750. I was running
rich so I am replacing the needle jets with larger ones (YY8 to YY9 or
YY0). I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the clip steps
effect the tuning. Can the clip be positioned to change the mixer or
is the clip in a specified step that should not be changed. I suspect
that the lowering the clip has the same effect as putting a smaller
needle which would make the mixer richer, and placing the clip higher
would have the opposite effect. Can anyone give me some specifics?

dont change your jetting. CLEAN your carbs. those 'clips' are to
keep the adjustment (from factory), for their expected life. given
they are clean, they will never fail.
just second guessing the engineers who built em tho, well, that makes
think you are plenty smart nuff to not have to ask such a question,
SO. your 'question' then seems to be a little more than just a simple
question...
what are you REALLY up to, huh?
is this some kind of trap?
it is! isnt it? i knew it....
aHHH! you got me.....

Lowering the clip raised the jet needle, which makes the mixture
richer.
