The ignition suddenly jammed, and the only positions are on, or park.
I cant twist it to off, has anyone experienced this? I put wd 40 in
there for a while, but still no difference. The key has been worn
down, but I'm using a new key that I had remade. Is it possible that
the actual ignition is also worn down? Any information would be
great, thanks.

IIRC, "on" and "park" are not adjacent on the switch......which is the only
way those could be the only operable positions.
If this is not a complete hose job, then visit a locksmith.

Well the lock oges from, off to start in the middle and then park.
But it's most definatly jammed. I guess I'll take it to a lock
smith. How are the generic locks from auto zone, whould they fit a
bike like this?

I'd expect to see maybe four wires into the ignition lock.
Not sure what I'd expect from another generic one.
Make a good diagram before you disconnect any wires.
After you've pulled the lock you might be able to tell
more about what's wrong.
Is this the old or new key that won't turn to "off" ? Sounds
like one pin not pushed quite far enough in if it's the old
key or one part of a new key that might be slightly too high.
I'd expect a new key to occasionally have problems like
those you describe. When you've got the switch out
of the bike it may be easier to persuade it to go to off.

Have you tried to find a genuine replacement lock? You'd be amazed what's still
available. I don't know about 78 models, but you can still find replacement
ignition switches for 82 models.
