Last fall I had a new rear tire put on my B12 and I just found the spacer
which goes inside between the bearing in the assy with the sprocket mounted
on it and the on on LH one in the wheel.
(item #9 pg 5-28 '02 B12 Zuke factory manual)
I've done ~ 1000 km on it since. I'd like to take it apart, see if I can
spot any signs of heat buildup or whatever in any of the 3 bearings back
there, and put it back together avec spacer. But my gut feeling is I should
have all those bearings replaced. Which is what I'll probably do.
Looking at it, it seems that not having this spacer in there places an axial
load on these bearings which they probably weren't sized for.
I was wondering if anybody has had experience with this, putting which
spacers where or loosing them must be something which happens now and then..

I'd replace all the bearings. Bearings are cheap (as low as $5 each if
you know where to go) and even if you have to pay someone to do the work
it's worth knowing it's been done right.
Right, Don?

Who Me? <g>
I don't repair bearings. I just grind them into unrecognizable mangled
pieces of metal!
