The absolute worst kick starter I ever saw was on a Greeves MX5 250cc.
You had to put your foot on the pedal at exactly a 45 degree angle.
If your foot slipped off the pedal, the level bruised the inside of
your calf.
If your foot stayed on the pedal all the way through the kick, you
could break your tows hitting the foot peg.
The next model was the Greeves Griffon, which was a lot like a
Husqvarna.
You folded the foot peg up out of the way and hooked a wire ring
around it to keep it out of the way when you kicked.
If you were in a race with a dead engine start, you then had to reach
down and unhook the foot peg and find first gear.
By the time you did that, all the Yamahas and Suzukis were gone...
