Avoiding a full rebuild probably will require the purchase of another
rack of carbs. There's plenty of good carb cleaning advice here in the
archives (Krusty Kritter posted lots of stuff in the past), so go there
first. Cleaning carbs isn't terribly difficult, but requires attention
to detail, the proper tools (to avoid damaging the parts), and
organization (a clean workbench, labels, photos, notes, and do one carb
at a time).
Speaking as someone who has, in the past, paid somebody ridiculous
amounts of money to do carb work, I strongly recommend your learning
this skill. A primary reason I make this recommendation is my belief
that the work that I paid for was never actually done; the problem did
not disappear, and I later heard stories about that mechanic that caused
me to never go back.
