One of my fork seals has blown, and it is leaking oil slightly.

The last time this happened was 3 years ago with the *other* fork seal.
At that time, I'd the dealer do the repair--costing over $160.  The
mechanic recommended that both seals be replaced so I OKed the work.
Since the current leak is with the *opposite* seal, I'm suspicious now
as to whether this seal was ever replaced back then--might just be a
coincident but it does make me wonder...

This time, I am going to replace the seal myself.  Anyway, what is the
best practice--replace the leaking one or both seals?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Both fork tubes go up and down at the same time don't they? Wear on the
seals' lips will be about the same and the one you don't replace will
probably start leaking sooner than later...

Since you have to hoist the front end of the bike off the ground and
remove the front wheel, why do that work twice? Replace both seals at
the same time...

Thanks for your inputs!  These were the same rationale that the mechanic
made three years ago for doing both seals at the same time.  I already
have two seals on hold for me so I'll be replacing both tomorrow.
Thanks again!

there is a bushing in top of the lower fork tube.   right below the
seal.   replace it also same time as seal.   you'll be glad you did.
