Yes I know it's that again....

The car charger should not be more than a 6amp..... it should be
turned off when you get a Constant Green and occasional yellow....after that
you would need a consistent/constant charger to any Walwart to top it off,
or take a 30k+ ride on some hi-way...

        For a 200amp Car batterry:
When a battery is dead, it's start charging at a very low amperage. Then as
the battery is "warming", it progressively increases it's output up to what
the battery will accept. As the battery gets nearly topped, it starts
decreasing it's amps down to a trickle when it's full. When it's down to
1.75 amps, it's charged. I've read the specs on the back of the unit and
it's own power requirement is 1.75. No matter how long I'd leave it, it
never goes below that, so figure the battery is maxed. I've tested my
theory and was right. The batteries are actually topped up. But it's not
auto-shut, so when it's down to 2 amps I know it won't be too long before
it's full.

I still don't fully appreciate the technology that omits the
standard 6amp- "car charger" since it does not itself have any voltage, and
it has no forced system, since it only gives the battery what it wants.....

There is no power in an unconnected "car charger", and it will never
charge a totally discharged battery, as it will never even warm up a
battery, but will charge to some 13.9volts...some vary....

On a normal charge it takes me about 1 hour to add 2 volts to an
8amp battery.....
I can use a $10 Walwart "Universal Charger" with a forced consistent
charge at .8 amp minus (depending on setting) and probably do more damage
without a "car charger" float....although done properly *a trickle charge
is always the best*...if it is a convenience....not much use if you park in
a parking lot or the streetsides..

I one used a consistent/direct Walwart "Charger" at 1.5 amps and
the battery warmed in about an hour....at this point I was reviving a dead
Yamy battery and it did a fair job

The battery should charge to some 14.2/4/6 on a normal "marine"
charger......and I know there is a long term difference between the
Semi/Gel/Agm battery types and the controversial issue of charger types.....

There is also some ambiguity in all the discussions and Net
nfo...but most are consistent that a Gel cannot take a full SLA Charge, but
who says the Battery is a Semi/Gel type...they all say SLA Sealed Lead Acid
to be charged at .8amp..

Simple...in the City, it's hell with a Majesty scoot...to much work
to remove, and all they wanna sell you is a trickle charger...

Now I know that all City single people here have their own house,
Garage, Car port, big back yard, a bunch of kids to work stuff at home, and
a hi 6 figure income that seems to add to nothing at the end of the
month....

For the real City single units here, we usually don't have a
separate Car port, to a attach those Optimizer and Aptima do hickey battery
tenders, so we suffer in the battery hits....

Some of us park on the streets because the City is not full of
Parking places were you can plug in a battery tender....I wonder
why?...although I hear that the Big Ass charger is just as good as those
"Car tricklers" called M/Cycle Chargers...

Some tests were done on a site, with a guy with 43 years of
experience, and disappointments..proving that the Battery Trickler/Chargers
did nothing to improve the battery, but did nothing to hurt them either some
(Batts) did last 5 years....

He was using a 6amp capable home made Float Charger, to boost his
20amp BMW M/Cycle...seemed to work just well that way....

One thing he did as a habit, is to strike the plugged in Float
Charger with the terminals to make sure he didn't get an arc.....thought
could be costly if it did....he has been surprised in the 43 years of doing
that in case" (http://w6rec.com/duane/bmw/battery/index.htm)
