Hello all,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to put aftermarket ape hangers
with a diameter of 7/8 in on a 2000 vstar 650 if the stock bars on it
now are 1in ? Or, do the aftermarket bars HAVE to be 1" also? Thank
you much!

Think about it a little - how are the 7/8 bars being held onto the bike
if the bike's set up for 1" bars?

If you're willing to pay someone to fab stuff, then 'is it possible'
becomes synonymous with 'how much would it cost' and to answer that you
simply need to ask the shop you'd be going to for the work.
OTOH, if you're asking the slightly different question "my bike comes
with 1" bars, are there any retail products that would change my clamps
to take 7/8" bars?" the answer becomes essentially an exercise in
calling/searching retailers. This site appears to have the stuff that
you're looking for, for example:
http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/all_handlebars.htm
Or maybe you're asking a slightly different question?
