squeaky brakes - Page 11

 

The site mentioned annoying brake vibration being transmitted through
a car's suspension system...

Aircraft disk brakes have multiple stacked rotors with brake pucks
between the rotors and the pressure that actuates the caliper pistons
is applied by a hydraulic pump...(1)


I remember flying to Hawaii on an L-1011 Tri-Star and how the disk
brakes groaned horribly and the vibration was transmitted to the
passenger cabin as the
aircraft approached the passenger gate...

It sounded like the brakes were going to tear the oleo strut off the
aircraft...

I returned to the islands on the same aircraft several months later,
and heard the same groaning sound emanating from the brakes...
