Pulling the suspension off the 200. Dropped a socket. Went to
pick it up and took a footpeg to the head. One of the pointy
parts. Of the footpeg, not my head.
Bleeding head bad.
I am *not* going to wear a helmet to work on bikes.

I imagine I'd have to get a daughter first... And then there's that
whole wedding crap and all that.

Sorry to hear that, hope the bleeding stops soon...
(won't say stupid things like, at least it didn't damage anything
important, etc.)
I split my head open trying to pull the clutch housing of my '66 Dodge
van when the wrench handle slipped and the van was on a lift above me,
when I was 17.
In front of my future father-in-law.
And his other mechanics.
In his repair shop.
The scars, physical and emotional, still show.

Back in the early 80s, I was installing a Ford V6 into a '71 VW bus. I
started the project late in the fall in the driveway of the house I
was renting from a friend. Come winter, I didn't have it finished, had
the engine in but was working out the details of plumbing the water
hoses to my front mounted radiator. Couldn't quite cut working on it
outside in the cold/snow/ice so I moved it to a friend's garage,
unheated so still quite cold.
At that time I was single and partying quite a bit, sometimes for a
few days running. WTF, I had the rest of my life to catch up on sleep.
One day, I was laying underneath the middle of the bus, spending some
quality "thinking time", (of which there was more of than "doing
time") on how to run the hoses. I was bundled up with a down coat and
wool hat. I guess I fell asleep 'cuz all of the sudden I jerked awake,
tried to sit up quickly, whacking my head pretty good then reacted by
slamming my head back down on the concrete. It hurt really bad but I
couldn't stop laughing...
I ended up with some big bumps on both my forehead and the back of my
head.
BTW, the conversion ended up pretty cool. With the exception of the
big Chevy radiator out front, I did it so the bus otherwise looked
completely stock and put two quiet mufflers on it. Turned it into a
real sleeper. I had to add some spring-over-shock overloads to the
rear to make the handling decent. When I plumbed the radiator hoses, I
put a real heater in it between the front seats and hooked up a 3"
flexible hose from the blower. Finally had a defroster that worked.
At the time I was working at a ski resort above SLC, driving the bus
up and down the steep road everyday. There were few passing
opportunities but I made the most of every one. Not too many people
were used to being passed by an old VW bus going up that hill, beep,
beep...
