I have been in Hollister Hills riding my 1981 IT 175 and 2003 Honda
CR250R for pleasure and enxctertainment. The IT is remarkably user
friendly but the CR is like riding a 250 on steriods and meth. It
originaly had a carb problem that I fixed. It blubbered and spewed
fuel out one of the overflow tubes so I figured that the float height
needed to be re set perhaps. I tokk the carb out of the bike and
removed the floatbowl and took out the float, held in place by a set
screw. I readjusted the tang for the float and started to put things
back together. After close examination the pin that the float pivots
on was missing. It fell out somewhere in the dirt. No luck. I loaded
up to go into town and try to find another. I got to the Kawasaki
service area and one guy was still there working. I showed him the
carb and he found another pin out of an old carb that we made work. He
started looking into things and took out the seat for the gas inlet
needle and said there was an "O" ring around the seat that was rotten
and letting gas leak into the float area causing the problem. He put a
new one in and charged me ten bucks and said "Have a nice ride". After
putting it all back together it started first kick and ran better than
new. Very crisp throttle response and gobs of power. This is a lot
more bike than an old guy like me needs. It scares me to ride it. I
have a young friend who came to visit and rode the bike. He is a fast
"B" rider and they got along like newly weds. I will be 60 next mont
and my eyesight is poor so the It will just have to work. I am off to
Hungry Valley next week to have a look around.

Please post pix somewhere. I was there last in 2000, and it was a lot
different from when we were riding there every weekend in the 80s.

Yep. That sounds like me. I am waiting for the low desert to cool down
a bit then I am going riding again. I'm thinking that the CR250 will
be better out there than on twisty trails.
