I see these guys at local MTB events, on MUnis, or mountain
unicycles. It's some craziness...
Doesn't do anything for me.
When I was a kid, I thought it would be great to be able to ride a
unicycle. It took about a week to learn, practicing a couple of hours
a day after school. Once it clicked, I could ride fairly well after
just a few days of practice. I quickly learned that it wasn't anywhere
near as much fun as I thought it would be. The main reason, as far as
I can tell, is that it doesn't freewheel. It's constant work with no
chance to enjoy the motion - no coasting downhill, etc. As a result, I
lost interest quickly and have never really gotten any better at it. I
can still ride OK, and I will still dig mine out every year or three
and take a spin, but it just isn't something that I found all that
much fun.
Watching these videos is sorta the same - no flow. I get the same
feeling watching bicycle trials videos.
