I have not checked the price of a new jug for my 2001 GG xc300.
The plating above the exhaust port is gone. Lovely sharp edge there...
good thing I found it when I did.
I guess I can hope that the shrapnel went right out the exhaust.
And I'll need a piston...
small end bearing...
the rings I have will probably be the wrong size...
perhaps the lesson is I should have installed those a while back.
Advice, links, etc. all welcome. TIA

You could always make it into a 250:

Well, I have had 2 cylinders replated, by two different companies, for 2
different machines. Both seem to be working just fine. But, after adding
up the costs, delays, screw-ups and overall quality of the end product,
BOTH times I wished I'd have just bought a new cylinder. The net
difference would have been less than $100.
It helps that I have access to a great shop that gives me great pricing
on oem parts. I suspect the price difference will be FAR greater on a
gasgas new cylinder, and if that is even an option.

Thanks, Charles.
I was living that 2nd experience with you, here in RMD. So much so,
that my initial reaction was that I should just buy a new cylinder. If
anybody needs me, I'll be shopping for jugs.
