Hey guys!
I don't wanna buy an expensive helmet cam but I thought it'd be fun to
try and use my hand-held DV camera to see what I can film while
riding. I'm assuming that duct taping it to my helmet would be the
best since you'll aim at where you're going with your eyes and there'd
be less vibration than if mounted to a bike, etc...
Does anyone have any experience trying this and any tips?
Thanks all!!!!!

I've been thinking about doing the same thing with one of those $70
cameras that Circuit City/CompUSA has. Two hours or so of video, etc.
A guy at work played with one on a go kart track and it came out
pretty close to perfect.
Something like this:

Duct tape was going to be my method of attachment as well, but I
hadn't figured out where yet. Bar pad maybe?

I have the same kind of camera - I think I spent 125 on it a year ago.
I considered the bars for mounting too although the bike gets
bumped/jumps around so much I think that wouldn't work - unless it was
on the road!

That $70 price is refurb at CompUSA. I've bought a handful of
refurbished stuff there and had zero problems. Three or four GPS
units, a couple digital point-and-shoot cameras and the like. I'd bet
it's still over $100 new even at discount shops.
Mounting: I don't like the way the hero-cams mount for woods riding.
Just seems like way too much hanging out there to get nailed by a
tree. Maybe just above the visor somehow? Let me know if you try it.
I'm interested in this too.
