Are moose UHD/HD tubes still having valve stem problems?

That stem I had rip out a while back was on a moose, I think, best
luck I've had lately are with the MSR ultra-heavy-duty tubes, but
cripes! They are almost 2x the cost of a michelin UHD.

So what's the hot ticket these days?

MSR worth the cost differential? Michelin as good or better?

BTW, I'm going to try out the pirelli XCMH DOT rear, and maybe spring
for a front as well.

Dave, I've always ran conventional tubes. Only had a stem ripped off
once, because tire went flat. Once I got the urge to spend more money
and got a HD tube from pirelli. It punctures in the same rate as the
conventionals, weighing more and I never ripped a stem with the rim
locks, but if you are riding street, rim locks are not practical...
What about tire vaccine? A green slime you put into that ruins the
tube for good, but they claim no flats anymore... I guess if a tire go
flat w/o a rim lock, doesn't matter if it is HD or not, the stem
*will* be ripped...

I had fewer flats after changing to HD and UHD tubes, so they are
doing something for me. I had some very rocky terrain back in CT (some
very nasty sharp-edged stuff) and never had a pinch flat despite
hitting the front tire awfully hard a few times (seemed like I just
hit metal directly to rock), and have been on a few rides around here
where we've been hitting some rocky stuff pretty quick with some good
hits (another fellow got a front pinch flat on that ride).

I don't think a HD tube will do much against a nail or such, but I
think they help avoid pinch flats.

I almost never get flats where slime would have helped- I always seem
to find large pieces of metal that just rip the tire and tube apart.

Hmmmm.... I'm running 2 rim locks on the back of my 650, and one on the
front.  Ride plenty of street.  You will need to add lead weights.  Even on
my trail bikes, I like to have the tire roughly balanced.  Dual rim locks on
the back helps to balance the wheel.  Rather than adding a whole bunch of
weight that doesn't do anything, add a rimlock for extra flat-running
capability.

BTW, the HellSickle is getting close to 43k miles on the clock.
