It's gonna be party time for the Maya on winter solstice, 2012.
That's when their calender either ends or trips over to 000000.

Unfortunately, the Mayan civilization dropped off the charts
around 900 AD. Apparently it's not much use asking their surviving
descendants in Mexico about it, either.

However, we do know the sun will eclipse the Galaxy's Dark Rift,
whatever that is.

I think it's not too soon to start planning the biggest-ever
New World motorcycle rally, the Mayan Millennium Monster Mash
to be held at the big temple of Chichen Itza.

See you all there!

Actually, the popular time to visit Chichen Itza is at dawn of the
Spring Equinox, when the shadows of the corners of the lower eight
platforms
of the pyramid of Kukulkan fall upon the balustrades of the stairway
to the
ninth platform makes creates an illusion that the feathered serpent
Quetzalcoatl is crawling into the Earth...

I think I still have the T-shirt somewhere, but I have hundreds of
shirts from my globe-trotting days.

Yes, great idea. Please make it your duty to keep us
informed.
