Hey all, I am thinking of putting in a steel pole filled with concrete
and attaching one of these to it and my bike, what do you think? Do
any of you use similar?

There are several out there on the market, do any of you use them and
if so, which ones. I have also looked at this setup.

For now I have the bike in the house, but would like to put it in the
garage. We are also putting in a couple of home alarm systems and
surveylance since it's obvious our local cops...

Rowdy Mouse Racing, we're not going to take it anymore.

Get something long enough to lock the frame and at least one wheel. Locking
one wheel only doesn't protect most of the bike, just the one wheel.

cable:

or chain (that is the question):

A couple of years back there was a very good thread here in this
subject.
From senior memory I recall  something like a long hard chain wrapped
around all the major parts, anchored to something immovable and
inside, out of sight, in a good neighborhood.
Can anyone with a better memory point to the threads ?

I think that cable is beter solution.

The long and short of it is anything can be stolen if the thief's want
it bad enough and have enough time to work on getting it.

Yes lock your bike... I use a heavy logging chain going through the
frame, rear sprocket, and around the leg of my work bench. Took a
forklift to move that bench in and with all the tools and parts on it
even Superman would pull something moving it now.

I always park my bike in the garage and lock the keep the roll up
doors and entrance door locked.
I also have motion sensor lighting in the rear and driveway. Thief's
hate lights.

When hauling my bike in the back of the pick-up I've got a big heavy
duty Masterlock on the sprocket over the chain.
Yeah you could carry the bike off the truck but its not a fast get
away and I always park we the truck is easy to watch. Thief's like
quick easy get aways.... man handling a dirtbike off one truck onto
another brings too much attention. Don't forget to secure your gas
cans, tool box and gearbag. It really suck to finally get to the track
just to find all your riding gear and tools gone.

Trailers are a nice option but they also can be a pain when all you
want to do is toss the bike on and hit the trails a few hours on a
spur of the moment.
