are they the same? I know the brake disk is, but is it the sprocket
too?

I ask because I had fitted my bike with a rear hub and brake disk from
a late model XR250L. I got the complete wheel out of ebay with a brand
new high quality sprocket that now is starting to show wear signs. To
my surprise, all XRs Honda sold down here have a slightly smaller
center hole on the sprocket, so, a 48T readily available at any
motorcycle parts store won't fit. CRF230F sprockets are available, but
then they are 51T or more, and 14T and bigger sprockets for my bike
are hard to find... I found a store that sells sprockets over the web,
they list separate sprockets for the CR125/250 and XR400, the site
says that the XR400 sprocket is the same as a CRF450 sprocket
(really?) but the CR125/250 sprocket is half the price of the XR400/
CRF450 sprocket. The site does not tell the years for the CR125/250
parts, but I assume is late models...

thanks for any hint!

You can hit www.bikebandit.com and look up the parts, and see if the
part number is the same.

I know XR650R and XR650L rear sprockets are the same, except one has
flat-bottom-counterbored bolts, and the other has tapered countersunk
bolts, but otherwise the bolts are in the same place and are the same
size.

I use motosport.com and ronayers.com for the same reason.

I know the rear sprocket on a CRF150F fits on a CRF250R and CRF450R. But
I believe the XR line is different.

As it turned out, I was "screwed" by the eBay seller. He sold me a
XR250R or CR125 wheel. It is not the XR250L sprocket that's in there.
Yesterday I was talking about this with a friend who owns a CRF230F.
He had a 50T new in his parts stash and he let me bring it home and do
measurings. The XR400, most of CR250 and 125 and mostly of the CRF
bikes share the same rear sprocket, the difference is the front
sprocket or the stock teeth number. Well, seems that the store wants
to charge more because it's a CRF (and thus newer and much more
expensive than most XR), not because it's different.

The stock rear sprocket on most of the brazilian honda dual sports is
the same as the old XL250R from early 80's, differing the number of
teeth.

I'm happy. :-)

There is a chinese brand of chain, KMC, they make 112 links, o-ring
chains that are quite good, for about 50USD and most, if not all,
motorcycle parts stores sell it on the 108L version, but the one in
downtown sells them in the size I need (112L).

Bike on the "shipyard dry dock" for repairs, I thought clutch disks
were worn out (slight slip), but they are thicker than the aftermarket
brand I bought. Seems that if I put the aftermarket brand I have, I
will end up with more slip. My service manual does not make any sense
when it says that the std measure is about 35mm and the service limit
is 44mm. It *must* be a typo... Off to brz dirt bike forums to find
out the *real* measuring, somebody must have a newer than mine service
manual with that horrible typo corrected...

best regards Jim! Have a good ride over at Wudi fest!
