My new CR125 developed an oil-ring around it's shock shaft. Possible
it was assembly lube, but after blasting it off with brake cleaner and
pumping out more goop a few times, I brought it back to the dealer for
them to inspect. I gave a pump=goop demo, and their head service tech
agreed it was leaking.
Honda agreed to pick up the tab for a shock rebuild via Factory
Connection (local guys). FC, however, did not do a rebuild, removed
the seal then put it right back back in, claiming that it was good and
it was simply assembly grease leaking out that we were seeing. The
service manager asked them to rebuild it anyway, and they basically
refused to rebuild the shock. He wasn't happy with the explanation,
so got both FC and Honda to sign up for a 1-year no-leak warantee on
the shock - if it doesn't clean up or starts leaking in a year, I'm
all set.
All in all, everything is fine for me, but isn't that the weirdest
thing you ever heard on FCs end? Why would FC refuse to do something
that a customer asks AND is willing to pay for, whether it's needed or
not?
Makes me wonder what other things FC determine aren't "necessary" when
doing rebuilds and other services.

I think that they got wind of just who you are and were
playing with your head.
Go fast. Take chances.

They did move their NH shop last week. Still, business is business.
