I have a 2000 CR250. The rear brakes worked, but there has always
been a lot of travel in the rear brake pedal, and the adjuster was
almost as far as it could go. On a recent ride, I somehow lost the
rear brake fluid reservoir cap (along with the 2 parts that go with
the cap). I replaced all of the missing parts, cleaned out the
reservoir, filled it with DOT4 fluid, and bled the brakes. I got my
brakes back pretty much to where they were before I lost the cap.
When I bled the brakes, the fluid that came out was very dark.
I decided to mess with the rear pedal adjuster. I had it adjusted
about all of the way out, and then tried bleeding the brakes again.
Something happend, and I lost all pressue in the rear brakes, and
can't get it to build again. Is this a sign the master cylinder is
shot? Should I replace it? How difficult is a rebuild?
Thanks,
Troy

Try "pressure bleeding" the rear brake by pushing (pumping) the fluid
from the bleeder back into the master cylinder.
This has always helped me when nothing else (short of a rebuild) has.
