We have decided to trade the old TTR125 and another bike in and get a
second bike. We have decided on a two smoke 85. Here is our dilema.
The '09 Kawasaki 85 will be $3180 (3000 bike, tax 180) , the '09
Yamaha 85 will be $3922 ($3200 bike, 500 conveyence and other dealer
changes, tax $222). We don't know yet how much trade in each dealer
will give us.
Is the Yamaha 85 reallyworth $722 more than the Kawasaki 85? Or are
they equal bikes, one just costing a lot more? My feeling is right
now, if the Yamaha dealer can't come within $200 after trade-ins, I
might go with the Kawasaki even though I would really like to deal
with the Yamaha guys again.
This will be a second bike that The Mouse can race in the 85 classes
and the wife and I to fool around with here and there. She (The Mouse)
is keeping the 08 KX 100 as her main race bike for now..
For those who are not aware, we ride strictly on prepared motocross
and super moto courses.. No trails, woods, etc... We will be racing
NEMA in youth and supermini's with the 85, and womens open class with
the 100...
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I'd get the Kawasaki.
Think of all the spare parts available if problems arose on race day.
Yer welcome.

I am not following this properly, are you being sarcastic? As to say,
lot's of broken Kawi's around or is Kawi just more popular and better
supported at the track?

He's saying that many parts will be interchangable between the KX you
have and the one you may purchase. If a crash takes out a foot peg,
then you more than likely have a spare on the other bike.
However, trading in a bike, rather than selling it yourself is a sure
way to get less than it's worth, just like a car.

#1 - Jim Cook in his normal gentlemanly manner is politely pointing out
the otherwise obvious.
#2 - Kawasaki has a nice contingency program for 09'.
#3. An added benefit to the nearby unwary would be the enhanced
visibility of your presence with _two_ day-glow green bikes on the
trailer.
