I need to find shocks on line.. Screw the guy from [edited company
name]
if he can't adjust a shock without a book, he is not going to see the
Honda either when we get it... So anyway, there was a great link a
while back about suspension, guess that is my next area of study..
Any
distibutors who can figure out how to size a shock without a book
would be appreciated too, thanks, Scotty

Is this on the chinese mini? There may not be much, if any,
adjustment to it. If you need to replace parts and your seller can't
help you, you may be in for a long battle.

Yeah, I have replaced a few parts already, you just have to be
resourceful and know how to use a few measuring devices;) The current
shock is on with a standard 3/8 by 2inch coarse thread hardened bolt.
Something has to fit, even if we have to make shims or brackets, my
father in law has the technolgy and the tools for that. We have
restored old tools, replaced bearings, made shafts, arbors, etc. All
without manuals, he was one hell of a setup man at the shop before he
retired, we can fix almost anything;)

You are correct though, the one on the clone bike is not adjustable,
but like I said, there has to be a shock guy out there that can take a
few measurements and sell me something, I will learn by adjusting from
there...

I got to ride my kids bike last week for the first time, and I had
huge tire hop loose, breaking into the corners. This is all new for
me, nothing like my many years of riding street. After a few laps on
the track (my first time on a real track) I found I was not only weak,
but scared shitless too;) I may get back up today, we are going to the
track and I can walk again so.

Anyway, thanks for your input, I know how you feel about these bikes,
but it's what we have to work with for now so I am going to make it
work...

What you might need is a good bike salvage yard. We have one here
that has sorted bins full of shocks (and sorted bins full of every
thing else) removed from every kinda bike imaginable. You rummage
thru till ya find what ya want then go negotiate a price. Might be
your kinda place. I'm thinking of one in S.E. MI but they gotta be
everywhere.

That would be great, I will google it. I am in CT and can travel
around the NE if necessary if anyone knows of any such places. My next
task will be the front suspension. I will probably have to find a
whole front end that fits into the neck of the frame. Hopefully they
followed some general convention when they designed it. A couple of
folks have suggested a small YZ fork, once I pull it apart I will have
a better idea. But for today, it's off to ride, If you are going to
Tony's track today, you will see us there. I will be the one limping;)

Thanks Scotty
