It gets worse.  When you hit Social Security it gets worser.  They keep
sending me brochures for assisted living and reverse mortgages, and I
got one free chance in a drawing for a cremation and burial at sea.

When I had my mom's mail forwarded to my address, the post office nicely
informed all the standard charities of her new address and they now send
their crap to her at MY address.  On the plus side, one of them sends me
a pre-stamped return envelope every month, from which I cut the stamp
for normal use.  That'll learn 'em.

Hint:  you have to glue the stamp on;  tape is illegal.

Uhhh, what were we talking about?

 The Real Bev is devious:

Hey does that work?  I just take all the credit card/garbage mail
with "no postage necessary" stamps and put them in the mail
with nothing in them.  Howard, my mailman and all around
good guy, tells me the postal service makes money on these
thus subsidizing my first class stamps and insuring his
retirement benefits.  If I can get free postage out of it that might
be better still.

Go fast.  Take chances.

I got it all from my Mommy.

That's probably illegal or at least immoral since the postage is
collected at the receiving end -- probably not something you want to
inflict on anybody but the people you pay bills to, in which case you
ought to be saving ALL the postage by using your on-line banking facilities.

Some charitable organizations send out actual stamped envelopes, though.
It's easier to cut off the stamp than re-label the envelope.

My mom sent one check to her favored charities each Christmas and was
always pissed that they wasted her money on sending her more begging
material.  When they phoned she threatened to send them NOTHING this
year, but she always gave in.

I read somewhere that if you keep getting junk mail from the same company
that includes those pre-printed "postage paid by recipient" envelopes to
just send them back empty. Since the company only pays for them when they
get used, after a few come back empty they automatically pull your
name/address from their lists. Could be an urban legend, but it makes sense.
