I got in my practice laps yesterday (maybe 30) and had a preliminary
meeting with team-mates under the EZ-ups. I was feeling good and so
was the bike. We are ready to get ready.
It is now time for final bike prep and application of race graphics to
the 420 machine.
I hestitate to dig too deep in mechanical prep because she seems to be
working pretty well. I don't want to snap a widget trying to lube a
muffler bearing.
Thanks to Mr. Baxter, I will check my top shock bolt.
I'm about ready to start using safety wire on seat bolts.

Broken rear hanger for expansion chamber. I hope that's an easy
generic part thing. I wonder how bad it would be to through bolt.
Missing coil fastener. No problem, but could'a been if the other one
fell out.
That damned airbox door has always been a problem flopping open
(especially in the anger of races), so I cut it to accept the entire
KX side panel. I will replace the dzus fastener & clip with a
conventional bolt & clip. And I need to retrofit a couple retaining
tabs on the remains of the door.
Experimenting with the fusion paint right now. Seems pretty good.
Darned 20 year old sign machine is throwing diagnostic codes at me.
Not good.

Temps will be tapping on 100 degrees F today. High humidity has the
talking heads on the newz warning of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Evidently heat stroke is when you stop sweating because you ran out of
fluids to sweat. Hydrate or die.
On Sunday I had to pull off the track and cool down when I went from
feeling hot to feeling cold... reminded me of that mud race at The
Dam. Looks like the heat will break for the race, but we may face some
passing storms to make it more like Woodstock on race day. Sunday
looks like perfect weather for the open riding portion of the program.
I will harvest today's heat into the massize 140/80-18 Michelin S12xc
so that it practically leaps onto the rim. Ooohhhhhhhhhhh... the
knobs...
It is tanning right now.
