I wiggle a fast L-R thru the tight spots, usually am not going fast,
have pulled my hand off that one bar end for a split second (back the
grip with an open palm to control the richochet) and trade the
somewhat-more-likely broken finger against the less-likely stranded-
with-a-broken-wrist, as I'm usually alone.
I carry spare levers, and yes, I've used 'em.
