This is closer to what I may actually purchase on Saturday.

At least the seating position is more upright like a dirtbike. The
used one I'm looking at has the lower fairings added and hard
saddlebags. I am hoping it hadles OK on dirt roads at a sedate pace.

It will work a lot better on dirt roads if you pop 3 of the
spark plug wires off before hitting the dirt.
You are going to love that bike as long as you keep it
on the pavement.

Sweet! That bike has always been on my short list of oneathesedays
machines.

I got a call from the salesman a little earlier this evening. He told
me that the bike may be sold, if said buyer qualifies for financing. I
said" Sell it! I like the bike, but I'm not in love with it. There
are more than enough used bikes available these days!"
I figure it's BS move to get some kind of commitment. Screw that!

I'd definitely look for a used one. I think it shouldn't be too hard
to find one that's barely been ridden.
I saw a 2003 R1150GS (maybe 1100, I can't keep track) with full Long
Way Round set up at Ace Motorsports. Unfortunately, even with 50k
miles on it, it would probably cost as much as that FZ1 new.
