I neglected to winterize my GasGas in the fall of '10, then didn't
ride at all this past summer, so my bike has been sitting with icky
fuel in it for a year. I finally got to it, and drained all of the
gas out of it, then pulled the tank and pulled and cleaned the carb
today. The carb innards looked like they were dipped in honey. Eww.
Once it was spotless and dry, I reassembled the bike. The final task
was to change the oil, so I drained it - it is cold, so I gave the
kicker a boot to stir things up, and the bike started for a second or
two. Hmm. I kicked it again, and it started and ran - even took a
little throttle input before finally stalling. How bizarre. What do
you suppose it was running on? The ghost of 2-strokes past, perhaps?

It's just that desperate to get away from you, Jay.

Ahh...that makes sense.
Bad enough it's teeth are falling out. I drained the oil, and stuck
to the magnetic drain plug was...a tooth. Gear tooth, that is.
It's alright though - it has plenty more.

your crankcase is/was filled with the same stuff your carb is (gas/oil &
air). 2 strokes go from carb to crankcase, to cylinder... That is my
guess..

Yup, I would say "induction intake" I think is what it's called...
