they are getting worse than the chineses...

the bolts I broke earlier this week...

back order... nobody has it on stock, called all 5 dealers in town...

all 8 of them costs less than 5 USD, but I have to wait 15 days... I
could get them for half of that if I went to the hardware store, but I
will not put hardware bolts on my motor, no way, the thing is right
under me, exploding almost 50 times a second*...

I am very afraid of going back on the store and asking for the valve
shims...

 * when you stop to think about it, this ridiculous fast for such a
small and compact engine...

If you can identify the size and thread pitch, you can get bolts that
are as strong as the stockers.

I'd guess there is nothing above Grade 8 in there.

Why would you buy Honda bolts?  Go to a hardware store.  I've got to
believe that (unlike here) any decent hardware store will stock
whatever metric fasteners you need.  I can even buy XR400 front axle
clamp studs (threads on both ends) at my local ACE hardware store, and
that place is easily 95% SAE.

This could help, maybe.  If you can find a fastener specialty shop,
you can easily get the specific hardness/temper of the OEM.  Where do
you think Honda get's it's bolts?

The stock bolts have a "shim" embedded on the head. I can't get those
on a hardware store, at least not strong enough. The stock bolts don't
have the grade marker on head, but judging by the brittleness of it, I
suppose it is either 8 or 10. I could buy them without the shim and
use a separate shim, or forget the shims whatsoever and put allens.
allens are kewl... :-) Besides it would make it way easier to remove
the cams on future. I can't reach one of the bolts with the ratchet
without dropping the motor, so I have to use an open end or a 12 point
box wrench, I fear everytime I look at the bolt...

Anyway, the order was made already paid for, I just have wait... But I
will follow the advice and this saturday I'm going bearing shopping
anyway, I need a lot of them <rs> and there is a big store near the
bearing dealer that sells only fasteners, perhaps they could help me
and I will keep the honda bolts stored for when I break another...

site ain't answering browser calls...
