Hey All,
I pulled the engine outta my YZ125 and now it's gotta get shipped to
the engine builder/porting dude to turn into a YZ134 yay!
Any good suggestions on how to ship it out? In a cooler?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Actually, that sounds like a pretty neat idea. Use a disposable
styrofoam cooler wrapped in that transparent wrapping stuff that movers
and shippers use. Wrap the engine too, before you put it in the cooler.
No, I don't know why, but it sounds like a good idea anyway. Maybe to
keep the shreds of styrofoam out of the works...

Sean,
I've received engines in all sorts of packing, from cardboard boxes,
to specially made plywood boxes, to a five gallon plastic bucket
"padded and taped for security".
This is the best way.
Have Dean build you a custom sized box out of 1/2" plywood, and line
it with sheets of packing foam to match the contours of the engine
case bottom. Put the top on with drywall screws for easy removal.
Your engine will arrive in great shape, and the case will last
forever.

lol... That plywood box was mine. What a fiasco that was.
Damn thing took me two weekends to build. Sanded, stained
and varnished with brass hinges and retractable handles...
Spent more $ on the box than Jim charged me for fixing
my GasGas motor.. Plus the damn box almost weighed more
than the engine did. Doubled the shipping cost.
Fun times.

Just had a new heat pump installed (inside and out). They had some
stuff they make connector boxes out of. It's a foam like stuff with a
foil cover. As I looked at it, it occurred to me it would be an
excellent material for an engine shipping crate. Start by surrounding
the engine as tightly as possible and then add a couple more layers
with lots of tape until you have a nice thick, light box. The
industrial saran wrap stuff is excellent as well. Wrap each layer with
the stuff to help hold it all together.
