It's friggin' 8 degrees out this morning.
Glad I'm not on vacation in Florida anyway. 39 in Palm Beach... not what
tourists expect.

6.3F in Northeast GA this morning with the leftover dregs of 1.5" of snow
that hit New Years night......Bright side is that we're supposed to see
sunshine and temps @ (L) 37F (H) 62F for our 8 Hour Endurance race this
weekend.

I really should be living in North Dakota...

North Dakota? Go check out the movie "Fargo" and see if you think you
still want to go there. You betcha. Here in Bishop, Ca. it's about 15
at night and a balmy 50 during the day. But we are in our high desert
riding season. Now that the days are getting much longer it's easier
to stay out longer and come back with out using lights. Due to
mechanical malfunctions I was not able to make the anual club ride to
Ocotillo Wells which is down by the Mexican border. On Jan 1, it is
tee shirts and shorts during the day and quite comfortable for riding.
Bishop is a bit cooler but still good for riding. Happy new year to
everyone here and hopes for a good riding 2008. OF

Hi Jeff!
http://tinyurl.com/373czo
My bike is at the bike shop. I had the dents removed from (metal)
tank, had it painted, frame painted and reinforced at the kickstand
area (cracked!), new graphics and seat cover, XR400 rear disk brake
conversion, new steering stem bearings, new plastics, repacked
exhaust... The guy have my bike for almost three months! I went there
yesterday. Still waiting the (alluminum) swingarm to come from the
welding shop, needed a bracket to be welded to fit the brake caliper
and then the swingarm will need to be painted... He assured me that I
will be riding sunday... I can't wait!
Yesterday I was again doing late hours at my little garage helping a
friend with another XR350, this featuring an electric starter. He had
to rebuild the cog that is connected to magneto and starter motor, the
little clutch thingy was slipping. Also, we had new clutch plates and
fixed auto-decomp mechanism. Unfortunatelly, battery (7Ah UPS computer
battery) rubbed against frame and battery solution leaked over frame.
Dead 1-year-old $15 battery and bike not started... Me and this friend
are planning to ride sunday, hope that both bikes work... If not, the
other XR350 (older, kickstart) belonging to another friend is there at
home with a freshly rebuild engine from bottom to top and he is
enjoying vacation 300km away... hmmmm :-)
