Just booked my flight into Boise (July 31st - Aug 9th).
Now I'm in VolkerValley, as BudgetTrucks wants to see a drivers license
upon CargoVan pickup.  Depending on what part of their web page you look
at they either want a "valid driver's license" or an "United States
driver's license".
The latter one might be difficult to aquire in the couple hours
between time of plane arrival and rental place end of work day.

Jeah! Way cool, dude.

Ahem. "Valid driver's license" should be simple. "International driver's
license" too. But "US driver's license"? Sorry. Why is that? I think, you
should drop them a mail and ask for details.

And probably a little on the expensive side, too. ;-)

Cheers,
Volker

P.S.: What type of "truck" did you select? 12 tons gross vehicle weight or
rather 70? You never know when you're going to need it...

hmm..
maybe they're worried about max. gross weight regulations...

That should be clearly pointed out in the international licence. In my
case, I'm allowed to drive pretty muck everything even though I don't have
a dedicated German truck licence, just the CE (7.5 tons plus a trailer of
12.5 tons if I remember correctly). Don't even try to understand German
regulations.

Ciao,

Well, I'm stuck with 3500kg e.g. 7700 lbs max. gross vehicle weight,
irrespective of "current actual vehicle weight".  And I'm afraid that
the international drivers license would say so, too.

So what you and your squeeze planning for IDSF, vehicle/housing wise?

If you are zooming through the states in a rental car, i could start
to consider renting one of these expensive RV (smallest one has 4 beds
IIRC) and we could splitt the bill.  I'd pick it up on 31st, drive to
Baumgartner and you get there by rental subcompact, stay in the RV
with me during the week and i'd head out on Aug 9th returning it.
