Jay... I met a black bear on a ledge trail while trail riding. (1957 year)
.. I had no way to turn around. Was running a no muffler exhaust at that
time. Raced the engine up and down to raise a lot of noise. After a few
minutes the bear decided to climb up the hillside. Stood behind a tree and
would peek around to see me. I departed in a hurry. Had a camera but did not
think it wise to pause and take photos. This was in Colorado. WW

I have a gaggle of 6 black bears that live on my property (JPE). I
haven't seen them, but the neighbors have warned me about them several
times - trying to scare me, I think. I thought the sign was funny - I
might just put up something similar. Right next to my "no tree
huggers permitted on trails" sign.

gaggle? I thought it was a gaggle of geese?
brood of bears sounds better but I think that's
limited to vipers (old testament types)
anyhow as far as bears go one is more than enough

Reminds me of a quote from ISF 04. It went something like this:
"Aaaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhhhhhaaahhhaaaahhhh!"
I think it was Ben?
I sure wish I was going this year, bears or not.
