My ATK went 8 years before the rear bearings were loose enough that I
decided to replace them.
My 2-year old KTM has bearings that are sloppy enough they need replacing.
Damn Austrian Krap.... Most folks I know with KTMs have had the rear wheel
bearings self destruct.
I am told that one issue is aluminum spacers on which the seals ride. I'm
definitely switching to aftermarket spacers with a pressed on steel wear
surface. They are made by WER.

C'mon, chuck a nice piece of black-pipe on the lathe, if you feed that
dainty bike more dainty bits, it'll never toughen up.
dainty bike, heh, I like it.

Then ride your ATK.

I thought the 250/300 chassis has two bearings on the drive side - is
that so?
Was it just the drive side that wore out?

Every time I load the 200e in the truck, I give the rear wheel a
shake. I carry spares in the RV. No big deal.
At least not as big a deal as when the bearings on those weird
sprockets above and below the swingarm on Tim's '88 250ATK let go...
BTW, I just this year replaced the front wheel bearings after 6 years
of use & they were still fine. I did it for peace of mind.

Bearing shops will sell you stainless press-on sleeves that're a lot
cheaper. If you're interested I can find the name of them...

No, single bearing on both sides. I suspect the drive side is the culprit.

That's definitely the best test for bearings. I've always discovered bad
rear bearings when the bike is loaded.
Yeah, not a deal, but they should last longer than 2 years. I know at least
one KTM rider who was stranded when the rear bearings on his new 520 self
destructed.

It looks like Moose and/or All Balls Racing sells what I'm after.
