I posted back last week about the valve issues of the Honda crf250R,
some said it's old news and the newer Japanese don't suffer this
problem, I have been shopping around for a new or late model used, I
came across 2 new ones, but can't make a decision, maybe some of you
riders can give me some comments, first off I just turned 65 yrs of age,
so here is what a local dealer has here in PA,, an 09 Kawasaki Monster
edition KFX 250 carburetor for $4995 or a 2010 Honda CRF250R fuel
Injected for $5995 I will never ride these bikes to their extreme or
near it for that matter. which would be a better choice for me.

    thanks

I'm a Honda fan, so I say ride Red - especially with fuel injection.
To my knowledge, CRF motors are historically more reliable than KXs.
I found a '10 CRF250R locally for $5399, so I'd try to push the Honda
dealer down using the KX price as leverage.

Go to Thumpertalk (http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum ), and spend some
time in the CRF250R and the KX250F forums.

Fuck JayC,  I'm 63 1/2 and just got a XT225 Yamaha with a Tinkerbell decal
for no extra charge.  Beats the hell out of that XL600R.

Let's shut those diesel pigs down with finesse!

Joe might be offering a meaningful perspective that differs from the
popular belief that everybody needs the newest extreme machine. If you
won't be exploring the limits of the KXF or CRF, you can dial back on
your machine choice and get a more civilized, comfortable, user-
friendly, easy to maintain steed that will still make you smile
without hurting your ears or anybody else's. And you'll be a little
closer to the bike's limits which equals more fun.

FI sounds really good in every way except for when/if it stops
working. Mysterious black boxes...
not that carburetors are completely free of mystery for me.

The $1,000 difference buys a lot of safety gear.

JayC has a thing for Kawi 250s. Is that KX still for sale?

I picked up a new Honda CRF230L street legal. the front suspension
is as POOR as it gets, these forks must be from the old XR bikes, other
than the front forks I have alot of fun with this 15hp 2 valve aircooled
engine lightweight bike, I went down on a gravel roadbed, it has to be
the forks, because 40yrs ago I went down this same railroad bed with a
72 Suzuki TS 185 and the bike never wandered around like this honda does
in crushed stone type gravel, so this is a reason I am deciding on a new
moto type bike because of it better suspension, also not too crazy about
the seat heights on the moto 250's looking to get as light as they come,
going to look at the 09 Kawi a little better before I make any
decisions, I personally like Honda's too. never owned a Kawi
