Perfect Riding weather is on the way for the lucky folks that are
headed to Combs, Arkansas for the eleventh annual Wudi Ride. This
year is another WaRM Wudi ( White a Rock Mountain = WaRM ).
I think it's going to be a special ride this year. I'm going to be
carrying my camera.
There is a chance of scattered rain on Thursday (to remove any dust,
if any rain happens), and then it is going to be a perfect 56 to 61F
and dry till the end of the ride. WoooHooo!
(I paid for 50F, but this will still be okay.)

Hey everyone,
Hope you had a great weekend and Valentines Day.
A lot of the club turned out this weekend to work trails, so a lot got
done. We still have some work to do, but we'll try to get that done
next weekend. I only plan on working one day next weekend as I need a
weekend day to get ready for Wudi, too. But I know where I want to
work to make sure the good single track is clear.
I've received some offers from folks on this mailing list to help
clear trails on Thursday of the Wudi weekend rather than ride that
first day. I think we'll be okay, but I may take up the offer if there
is anything major left to do. I really appreciate the offer, too!
Thanks much.
Porta Potties are taken care of. I have the arm bands (you'll get one
when you come through the gate) and I will probably do a little
arrowing, at least the "back to Wudi camp" kind of thing off the major
trails.
Trails are in good shape as we've gotten just the right amount of
moisture lately. We saw some really pretty waterfalls yesterday
working trails as it had rained overnight down there. Take some time
and look around while you're riding there. There are some beautiful
areas and views at White Rock.
Many of you have probably already heard about and responded to the
banning of mini-bike sales that started on Feb 10th, but if you
haven't, follow this AMA link and please contact your reps, the CPSC,
etc. With no little bikes legal to sell so the kids can get involved,
our sport will die.

I plan on being at WR Wednesday around 5pm. I'll be doing the 'gate
keeper' thing as much as I can for the first day or two until other
club members arrive. So see me for the arm bands, elec sites, signing
waivers, etc. I have a red Vee nosed trailer with fox heads on the
sides, and it'll be behind a 40' maroon Class A RV.
I'll probably send out one more update next week. But just some notes
on the area. I think I already mentioned it somewhere, but if you're
coming from the North/West, BE CAREFUL driving through the town of
Elkins on Hwy 16, just south of Fayetteville. STRICTLY follow the
speed limits. It's a two part town that stretches for like 2 miles
along 16, with multiple speed zones. If you see school buses at the
school, even if no kids are around, only do 25mph. They are constantly
on speed trap patrol in Elkins. There's a good grocery store on the
south end of Elkins, if you need any last minute things. Elkins is
also the best place to stop for that last fuel stop. It's a nice
little town, but they don't tolerate speeding.
There is no cell phone coverage at the camp, although you get the
occasional report of someone getting a call in. I would not count on
it, though. You can get reception in certain areas on top of the
hills, but camp is in a valley along Mill Creek.
Thanks, and see y'all soon!

Just after I posted this yesterday, Jeb sent out another update after
getting home from working trail for the Wudi11.
I pasted it to the bottom of this message.
I will be leaving for Wudi11 on Wednesday. Look for me and mine near
the Coleman pop-up camper I borrowed from my son, Gabe.
This year, Gabe can't make it. Josh and Brandon are supposed to make
it for the weekend.
At this moment, Deb is in the kitchen, making the "rue" for her
Gumbo. (Saturday night's meal.)

Wudi update 2/22/09
Sunday, February 22, 2009 8:10 PM
From: jeb
Hey all,
Man, I'm embarrassed. I'm pretty sore and tired, and it's just from
working trail! I guess 5 weekends in a row of chainsaw work is pushing
it a little? Or maybe I'm just getting old? But the Honey Weiss and
Tanquery/tonic are helping. Speaking of which, anyone wanting to haul
me down a 12 pack or case of Honey Weiss would be repaid in gratitude
and greenbacks.
The trails are looking pretty good. Our 3 man crew alone went through
5 tanks of chainsaw gas again today. There is still more to do, but
there will be for quite a while because of that ice storm. Most of the
trails I intend to use are now ready to go. Thursday's riding, for
whomever shows up early, may be a mix of fun riding and a little
arrowing/working. We did not get a chance to cut out that big snag on
the very south end of the main "Blue" loop, but there's a shortcut to
get around that I need to arrow in. Lots of the fun single track is
ready to go, along with the 6 miles of brand new trails. So should be
fun for everyone.
Weather forecast has small chance of rain Thursday only at this point.
The forecast had more rain it, but it keeps better everytime I look at
it. A little rain would not hurt at all. Some of the more open ATV
trails were putting up a little dust today, and the truck was putting
up some dust coming into camp. Conditions are pretty premo, really,
but a little rain would be just fine, too. Highs are suppose to be
around 50, which is great riding weather.
Bring a little wood if you think of it. There's TONS of it laying
around on the trails right now, but I ain't dragging that back to
camp. So if everyone brings a little, we should have a nice fire or
two every night. The club house has a nice double barrel wood burner,
so maybe we'll all just hang in there.
The sites closest to Mill Creek are still not graveled, so those will
be great for the tent folks wanting electric hookups.
If you have any questions at all, email me or post them to the forum.
Again, I'll be there there about 5pm on Wednesday, so come say hi.

HellSickle is prepping too:
> Bike is rejeted, new rear tire mounted.
I pulled the snows off my truck and put the summer
wheels on, partly because I had a rumble that I
figured was because the snows have some miles
on them.
It's the rear axle rumbling. Been doing it a few thousand
miles.
Now I'm angsting (is that a word?) over taking the
truck/enclosed trailer and taking my chances or
stealing Amy the Wonder Wife''s Subaru and taking
the little rail trailer. I was all planned out on the bigger
trailer for camping.
Hopefully I won't have to walk but if that's what it
takes.....
Go fast. Take chances.
