I droped a main jet by one size in my IT 175 from 200 to 195 the other
day. The difference in throttle response is excellent now. From about
1000 RPM on up it is much smoother. The most impressive thing though
is the increase in quality of the handling.Going uphill in deep sand
for instance, the bike now runs smoothly to the top. Before, it would
sputter say in second and I would shift down and get the rpms up again
only to produce too much power and spin the back wheel. Uphill on a
rocky road it is an easy dream.

Did you use the terms "IT 175" and "too much power" in the same
paragraph?

or lift the front wheel if there is enough traction and flip the bike
backwards, making it fall over you, trapping you under it and making
you the subject of laughter of all your friends... Well, not much
different from a xr250 <g>

My IT would have a hard time flipping over backward under any
circumstances. And my friends would know better than to laugh.

Awwwwww. I'm sure they don't mean to hurt your feelings.
Poor fella.
Tomorrow I hammer the swingarm off *my* IT. Or cut it.
It's gotta go if I'm going to be ready for riding the thing
this year.
Go fast. Take chances.
