The Regional Courts of Kielce, southern Poland, have sentenced a man
to 10 months in jail for environmental damage incurred by his illegal
motocross track built in a national park.

Daniel P. also faces three fines: 1,200 zloty penalty, 2,000 zloty for
exemplary damages to the Society for Animal Protection in Jedrzejow,
and 3,000 zloty for legal fees. In total, the man will pay
approximately 1,200 euro.

The man has been found guilty of wrecking environmental havoc on the
protected land of the Checinski-Kielce National Park.

According to Daniel P., the area in which he built his motocross track
has belonged to his family since 2004. The land is unused,
agricultural space, and he claims it is perfect terrain for racing
motor bikes.

Sounds like there's a pretty big difference of opinions here - is it
in a National Park or on his own land?  If the former it doesn't sound
like he did anything wrong.  Time for the lawyers to break out the
surveys and whatnot.
