>better add whale to the list
Not that list... that list was the
shit-that-can-happen-while-you're-on-Tami's-Trail list.
Killer whales go on my list of crap that can happen in that weird hotel I
stayed in on the edge of the water at Puget Sound... while I was laying
there watching the cartoon channel, I could have inadvertently swept my
laser pointer over the blinds... the small red spot attracting the
attention of a killer whale that jumped through the window and onto me.
Two moves ahead dude... TWO.

Would that be the killer whale that is body-surfing the face of the
oncoming tsunami?

Tsunamis hit Puget too? I'd have stayed on the second floor if that were
the case, but as I recall, the train tracks were about... 4" from my window
and were busy shuttling chorine gas and other wonderful substances
back/forth all night, so I went with a first floor room to expedite my
escape. I do believe there was a handout in the lobby about what to do
during a volcano activation.
Still... it was better than airport Ram**** with the double-eye-infection
pillows, the lobby full of hookers waiting for their next call, and the
room overlooking the lovely and well-illuminated airport cemetery.

I talked to a few guys who live in that area. It appears that this
trails lies in a protected area (it is a "Site of Community
Importance",
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Site_of_Community_Importance ). It seems
to be also (but I could not find confirmation to this) a World
Heritage site because of the presence of petroglyphs dating back to
Neolithic. In short, is not a legal trail to ride (I would add it is
not a _wise_ place to ride. I wonder what are you supposed to do if
the trail is interrupted because of a landslide or something else, and
you need to go back, but this might not be a problem for others).
In my experience, if those guys are caught by Forest Service officers
or people (hikers, mountain bikers) complain that they have met bikes
on that trail, it is possible that stricter control takes place in
that area, preventing local riders to go in places where riding is not
legal but somehow tolerated. As usual, everybody pays for the mistakes
of a few
